We designed our automated vertical warehouses to enhance the working conditions of operators in terms of both safety and ergonomics. We constructed the structure following the “goods-to-man” principle, ensuring safety during picking and refilling operations.
The ergonomics of the vertical tray warehouse bring all goods within reach of the operators, thus reducing all risks associated with warehouse work: strenuous movement, incorrect posture, and potential injuries.
Custom warehouse configurations
Depending on requirements, a customs warehouse configuration can be designed for your Modula automated vertical or horizontal warehouse, with various unit heights, payloads, dimensions, options, and types of operator bays.
In particular, Modula offers four operator bay configurations:
- internal
- external
- single
- dual
An internal bay is an ideal solution when you need to minimise the floor space occupied by the automated warehouse and in case, for example, you want to install several Modula warehouses in a row, one in front of the other.
An external bay is definitely the most ergonomic solution for operators and is ideal for combination with bridge cranes or mechanical manipulators to lift heavy objects.
Error reduction and optimised stock management
Modula automated warehouses enhance stock management efficiency and significantly decrease picking errors. It’s easy to envision how storing products in a tidy tray simplifies locating required items, avoiding confusion with similar products, managing appropriate quantities, and preventing understock when a certain item is in demand.
When combined with Modula WMS software, the warehouse can keep track of all incoming and outgoing goods, providing constant control over your stock and improving its management.
Maximum tray payload
In automated vertical warehouses, the payload becomes a crucial factor, particularly when storing heavy, large, and bulky products.
Each model within the Modula Lift range of vertical warehouses can handle the maximum payload for all tray sizes, regardless of their width and depth, thereby achieving an overall gross payload of 90,000 kg.
The use of a steel-reinforced toothed belt transmission and an elevator guide system with 16 HDPE rollers allows for the maintenance of a partially unbalanced load in the trays, without disrupting warehouse operations.
Dedicated software
Behind every Modula automated warehouse is the Modula WMS management software. Modula has been designed and developed by our in-house team to optimise the performance of Modula automatic storage systems, integrate certain special options or enter into dialogue with other technologies, whether proprietary to
Modula or from other suppliers (such as robots, cobots, and AGVs).
Modula WMS warehouse management software can also be used as a stand-alone tool for conventional warehouses with manual areas or can collect information from both automatic and manual warehouses.
Configurable and customisable, Modula WMS is available in various packages with different licensing types and software modules, to fulfill the requirements of any application.
Easy to use
One of the most prominent features of a Modula vertical warehouse is its ease of use.
Operators navigate the vertical tray warehouse using a touchscreen interface (Copilot), which guides them through each process and gives quick and easy access to all of the machine’s functions.
Despite its resemblance to a touchscreen tablet, Copilot is designed for the industrial environment, making it highly resistant and durable.
Its color GUI is extremely intuitive and requires operator training, neither for initial onboarding nor for daily users.
